We had a great time at the Classic Cafe tasting Monday night. We have tasted and loved each wine 3 times now, so thought you guys might be interested. There is a link that will discuss the wines in more details.
Please scroll down for a couple of wine deals. A highly rated Tempranillo and a great deal on an Oregon Pinot.
And if you are in the Dallas Metroplex, see the wine tasting offer at the bottom.
Have a great weekend! Rex & Michele
We have purchased the last of the 2001 Izarbe Grand Reserva. This was easily one of the most compelling connoisseur level wines in our previous portfolio. We considered it an extreme value at $37.50 WHOLESALE
From our last review in 2016..
Fruit is bright and vibrant like a young wine. The spice is amazing and there is no funk to this Rioja it is polished and elegant. You would never guess this was a 2001!!

2001 Izarbe Rioja Gran Reserva, Spain
100% Tempranillo - This generous red is round and expressive, yet remains structured, with grip and depth. The plum, tobacco, sanguine and mineral flavors are harmonious and linger on the savory finish. Drink now through 2021. 2,500 cases made. -TM

We have secured 7 cases of 2009 Ribera Del Duero, Cepa 21. We have it open now, it is a cherry raspberry monster with lots of spice. Elegant and rich, this Ribera is composed of Tempranillo splashed with Tinto Fino. The 2009 vintage is classic and this wine will cellar, but it absolutely excellent right now! Rich red fruit and velvety tannins makes this a classic pairing for holiday recipes.

I think it is better than the multiple 91 point reviews below. R
"The 2009 Cepa 21 is from 15- to 25-year-old vines and aged in new French and American oak for 14 months. It has a very impressive bouquet with dark red fruit, wild strawberry, hints of dark chocolate and again, just a distant scent of lavender. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, crisp acidity and a very well-defined, vibrant finish with cranberry and wild strawberry that is very satisfying. Bon vin!" 91 points Robert Parker
"Glass-staining ruby. Sexy, oak-spiced aromas of dark berry compote, cola and violet, with subtle vanilla and underbrush nuances. Broad and sweet on the palate, offering ripe blackberry and cherry-vanilla flavors and slow-mounting smokiness. The floral note comes back on the finish, which clings with impressive tenacity and focus. Shows good energy for a ripe vintage." 91 points Vinous / Antonio Galloni
Roasted black-fruit, horsehide and rubbery aromas filter onto a tannic palate with all sorts of fruit extract and pulp for support. This is a rich, ripe wine from a warm vintage with tons of berry power, oak, herbal notes, tobacco and prune on the flavor profile. The finish is ripe, with spice and licorice flavors. 91 Wine Enthusiast,
Bright ruby. Red and dark berry aromas show very good clarity, with spice and floral notes providing added lift. Juicy and precise on the palate, offering focused raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of candied rose. Finishes bright and long, with resonating spice and cherry notes. This wine is quite suave, and surprisingly drinkable now, but it has the balance to age. 91 Stephen Tanzer,
