Acaibo is an outrageously good Cabernet produced in an elegant, complex style by Claire and Gonzague Lurton. The Lurtons also own and produce a few Bordeauxs including Dufort Viven Margaux and Haut Bages Liberal. They are extremely talented winemakers. We tasted Acaibo last year for the first time, the 2013 vintage which is only 56% Cabernet with the winemaker Claire Lurton who told us at the time that the 2014 would be a true Cabernet. The 2013 was and is exceptional, ultimately receiving 90 plus point scores from every reviewer, so we asked why the change in blend. Her answer was because " the Cabernet in our Chalk Hill Block is coming in richer than any I have ever seen". REVIEW & WRITEUP
We are tasting the 2016 Pazo de Rubianes Alborino. This is a bright, extremely focused white with a voluptuous middle and a haunting finish. The flavor profile is driven with apricot, apricot pit and tangerine and with incredible depth. The finish is crisp but with extraordinary length. The reviewer below mentions grapefruit, THERE IS NONE. But he is right in that it has exceptional pop. So far the Pazo de Rubianes is sensational with both Cheddar and aged Gouda. We woked some prawns with soy, Worchester, spring onions, jalapenos white wine, butter and garlic. Wow, enough weight for the rich sauce, enough crispness to refresh the spice and with prawns this wine is divine.
This is a $35.00 retail. We are at $27.50

All the best, R&M
90 POINTS, WINE ENTHUSIAST
This Albariño's floral aromas are a bit misleading, because it packs pop. The palate is full and textured, with mature grapefruit and orange flavors that finish in peak condition. It's bold, staunchly acidic and still fresh; drink through 2019.
